Clay McLean Selected for a Success at MIT’s
Summer School of Engineering
This past summer, Clay McLean (11th Grader) took part in a six-week college prep program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA. The six-week college prep program focused on Engineering, Science and Math. Only 70 high school students in the country were selected out of 1000 applicants. Needless to say, it is an extraordinary achievement from one of our very own students.
“My experience at MIT was truly life changing,” Clay said. “It made me reach heights that I didn’t think I could reach, and it has also given me the confidence that I can get into any college that I want as long as I continue to stay focused and humble.”

Important Health Information Taught to Middle School Students
This week in Health, Tamara Gallen (Health Coordinator) and Daniel Matena (PE Coordinator) will be covering the concept of hygiene as a means to cut down on the spread of the flu virus and the H1N1 virus. The two will be having an open discussion with the kids about the H1N1 virus and what we as a school can do to lower our chances of contracting the illness. There are two great web site sites that you might want to read over to inform yourselves of the material. These sites are shown below, so that you can be prepared to answer any questions that your student may bring home in the next week.
Know that discussion should not scare your students. It is meant as a means to empower them. The material covered in these articles will be edited to fit the age group being addressed. Please contact Tamara Gallen at tgallen@davidsonday.org if you have any questions.
